  • Why are you at my house?

If you're a homeowner, it's likely that you're currently dealing with an insurance claim scenario. Bruce Environmental Inc is here to perform asbestos sampling, carefully evaluating the details of your claim.

Alternatively, the sampling request may have originated from your mitigation, rebuild, or general contractor.

  • Why is my house getting sampled?

For any commercial or residential entity undergoing renovation, demolition, removal, etc., invasive asbestos sampling is necessary. This crucial step is aimed at comprehending the work environment.

Bruce Environmental Inc's objective is to guarantee a secure environment for everyone involved in the renovation, demolition, and removal process.

  • What gets sampled?

Any materials that will undergo damage such as tearing, breaking, etc., during the renovation or demolition process must be assessed for the presence of asbestos.

  • What does sampling cost?

The costs of sampling primarily depend on the quantity of samples taken. The number of samples required is influenced by the following factors:

    1. Homogeneity or similarity of materials
    2. Extent of damage or renovation plans
    3. Square footage
  • What happens if my samples are negative/positive ?

If the results indicate the absence of asbestos, other contractors working on your property can proceed without any delay or the necessity of an abatement process.

However, if the results show the presence of asbestos, you will need to undergo an abatement process before any further work can proceed at your property.

  • How do I know if my results are negative or positive?

The project manager or field representative from Bruce Environmental Inc, who conducted the inspection, sampled, and met you onsite, will directly reach out to you with the sample results.

It's important to note that the samples taken by our representative are personally delivered to an accredited third-party laboratory for analysis. It is considered a conflict of interest for the abatement contractor to analyze their own samples.

  • What is an abatement?

Abatement refers to the process of safely removing confirmed Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) from your property.

  • When will the abatement start?

If you are undergoing abatement as part of an insurance claim, Bruce Environmental Inc cannot schedule the process until an adjuster reviews and approves the submitted estimate.

This approval is crucial for ensuring seamless payment processing. If we were to bypass the approval due to the urgency expressed by the property owner or mitigation/restoration contractor, the property owner would ultimately be responsible for any outstanding payments.

  • What do you mean by mitigation/restoration contractor?

Usually, when a property experiences damage from various factors like trees, wind, flood, fire, etc., the initial company to visit your house is the mitigation team.

Bruce Environmental Inc collaborates with numerous mitigation companies. These mitigation teams inform us when sampling services are required at your home.

The restoration company is the final contractor you will engage with. This team is tasked with restoring your house to a livable condition. After the abatement is completed, you will meet with the restoration companies.
